RECAP Week 23: Puzzle pieces fall into place

-6 teams make the playoffs and 6 other teams form the consolation bracket.

-In the first round #3 plays #6 and #4 plays #5.

-This week’s MOTW was #3 Mario’s Militia vs. #6 Dump and Chasers.
It’s literally a playoff preview.

-It’s almost time to nail down all those playoff seeds.

-But first, there’s a matchup to recap. Both teams sport black helmets, will we find out which one sports it better?

Mario’ Militia = RED vs. Dump and Chasers = Yellow

MONDAY:

-2 points out of Corey Perry for D+C, too bad he tears up his knee a few days later, what?

-Andrei Markov racks up 14 pims on the night for double M.

TUESDAY:

-Mathieu Garon with a tough start in net. I would normally care less but I predicted that Mario would win goalie #’s and that’s in jeopardy:

-Parise scores twice, that’s 30 on the year for him, solid year for D+C.
-Kipper gets a HUGE shutout for ‘the Dump’:

WEDNESDAY:

-Erik “I hate Brooks Orpik” Cole grabs 2 points for the Dump.

-‘Mario’s Militia Strikes Back’ with 2 huge goalie performances on the night; one from Hasek and one from Ill-ya Bryzgalov.

THURSDAY:

-Jussi Jokinen is fitting in well w/Tampa; the Militant grabs 2 points for Mario.

-HUGE night at the Dump for the Chasers. Sami Salo grabs 3 assists, Cole gets a gwigle and 19 pims and Nik Antropov scores 2 goals.

-Dump and Chasers are pulling away in this one…

FRIDAY:

-Not much on the day for D+C, although Marleau did grab a gwig-er.

-Garon has a killer 4 star start for Mario, but his skaters are too busy not scoring and watching Blade Runner:

SATURDAY:

-Kopitar and Stasny refuse to quit on the Militia; 2 points for both on the night.

-Fisher and Parise score 2 goals a piece, Fisher knocks in a shortie:

(Never heard their stuff but they look like they would suck…)

SUNDAY:

-Shane O’Brien gets another 12 pims for the Dump, huge.

-Malkin. 3 point effort. Ho-hum.
-Mario bum-rushes the offensive cats that D+C still held as they put up 11 points on the day. Even though they lost the week, their big Sunday performance gave them a few more standings points.

-Final score of the last MOTW of the reg. season: 11-4-3, the Dump takes a collective dump on the Militia:

-I predicted a Mario’s Militia win by the score of 9-6-3, not the first time I’ve been way off:

(Cletus ‘the mouth breathing appalachian’ should do the predictions, he can’t do any worse than what I throw out there sometimes, lol)

-I said that I liked Mario to take the offensive cats, and they did.

-I said that I liked D+C to take the specialty cats, and they did.

-Where I was terribly wrong was the goaltending #’s. Mario didn’t take any and I thought he would take them all…ouch.


-Reasons why Marko’s Dump and Chasers won:

-Zach Parise was a mad man: 5 effing goals, a +4 rating and 5 pims.
-Erik Cole was no slouch either: 3 points, 2 goals, 2 gwig-inator’s and 19 pims. 19!
-Jose Theodore was a beast all week, even got a shutout, can’t beat that.
-Kipper was just about as good as Theodore.
-Dump and chasers are usually 3rd or 4th liners, they do the dirty work. This D+C squad did all the dirty work this week as they dominated the specialty cats and the goaltending held them up when the offense wasn’t quite good enough.


-Reasons why Mario’s Militia lost:

-It sure wasn’t the offense’s fault, they put up solid numbers and took most of the cats available.
-Chris Pronger had 0 points, didn’t matter much but still, if you’ve got a chance to rip on Pronger, you take it:

(He wishes his but cut was as well proportioned as Jeff Jimmerson’s)

-Mathieu Garon had a tough week.
-Is there a Colby Armstrong curse? Militia hasn’t won since he went to Atlanta…


Any broken Records this week?:

-LP shocks the world and puts up…let me make sure I read this correctly…8 GWG’s??? That record could stand for a long…long…time, or just until next year or something.
-NEW LEAGUE RECORD = 8 GWG’s in one week by Les Pingouins
-D+C and BHM both had 5 GWG’s, both would have been new record if it was not for Zoom’s LP squad putting up 8.
-One more note on the new Gwig record, the previous record was 4, LP put up 8, they literally doubled the record…yikes.
-BC had 68 pims, close but no cigar.
-Mario and the Dump both had 66 pims and they played each other, that sucks.
